The Dallas Cowboys have decided not to tender a restricted free agent offer to offensive lineman Brock Hoffman ahead of the 2026 league year, according to Jordan Schultz. As a result, Hoffman will enter unrestricted free agency when the new season begins.
Hoffman’s Journey from Browns to Cowboys
Brock Hoffman, 26, initially signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2022 as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech. After being released during the final roster cuts as a rookie, he was assigned to Cleveland’s practice squad. Later that year, the Browns released him from their taxi squad in November, leading to his opportunity with the Cowboys’ practice squad.
Hoffman spent time moving between the Cowboys’ practice squad and active roster before solidifying his position in 2024, when Dallas re-signed him to a contract extension. During the 2024 season, he played in all 17 games and started four times at the center position.
Future Implications of Free Agency Status
With the Cowboys choosing not to extend a restricted tender, Brock Hoffman’s unrestricted free agent status opens doors for other NFL teams to potentially sign him in the coming league year. Given his recent active role with Dallas, his availability could attract interest amid the free agency period.

Hoffman started 14 games over the last two years, proving to be a valuable depth piece at C, LG and RG. Just 26 years old, he should have some real interest. pic.twitter.com/mvZwTqfnUq
