Kam Curl Signs $36M Deal to Stay with Rams for 3 Years

Safety Kam Curl has agreed to extend his time with the Los Angeles Rams by signing a three-year contract worth $36 million, according to NFL Network’s report on Friday. The deal includes performance incentives that could increase the total value to $39 million, securing Curl’s role in the team’s defense moving forward.

Recent Roster Moves Strengthen Rams’ Defensive Backfield

This signing follows another significant development for the Rams’ secondary earlier in the week. On Wednesday, ESPN disclosed that the Rams acquired All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs in a high-profile trade. The exchange sent the 29th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to Kansas City, along with the Rams’ fifth- and sixth-round picks in 2026 and a third-round pick in 2027, solidifying the Rams’ intent to bolster their defensive lineup.

Curl’s Journey and Performance Leading to the New Deal

Kam Curl entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick by Washington and quickly established himself as a starter during his initial four seasons with the team. Ahead of the 2024 season, he joined the Rams on a two-year, $9 million free-agent contract. Curl’s performance across 33 games as a starter for Los Angeles earned him this substantial contract extension.

In those 33 games, Curl recorded 201 tackles, two interceptions, and defended 14 passes. His contributions also include three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and a touchdown. Over the course of his career spanning 93 games with 86 starts, Curl has accumulated 586 tackles, eight sacks, five interceptions, 28 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and three recoveries.

Implications for the Rams and Defensive Strategy

By retaining Kam Curl through this new contract, the Los Angeles Rams reinforce their secondary with a proven and reliable player. This move, paired with the recent acquisition of Trent McDuffie, indicates the Rams are building a more robust defense to compete in upcoming seasons. Curl’s experience as a starter and consistent defensive statistics make him a valuable asset as the team aims to improve its defensive standing in the NFL.
