San Francisco 49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro has secured a four-year contract extension worth $17 million, with $10 million guaranteed, keeping him with the team through the 2029 season. This agreement follows Pineiro’s standout performance during the 2025 NFL season, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
Performance Highlights That Earned the Extension
Pineiro took over kicking duties early in the 2025 season after the 49ers released Jake Moody in Week 1. From Week 2 onward, Pineiro emerged as one of the NFL’s most accurate kickers. He made 28 of 29 field goal attempts, converting six of seven from beyond 50 yards, which earned him the league’s highest field goal percentage at 96.6%. He also successfully made 34 out of 38 extra point attempts.
Throughout his career, Pineiro has maintained a field goal conversion rate of 89.7% and has completed 91.5% of his extra point tries, demonstrating consistent reliability for his teams over time.
Role in the 49ers’ Campaign and Future Outlook
With Pineiro’s dependable leg, the 49ers navigated a challenging 2025 season under head coach Kyle Shanahan, ultimately securing another trip to the postseason. His steady kicking helped stabilize special teams during a year with its share of difficulties.
The 49ers clearly value Pineiro’s contributions and view him as a key component for their future success, making this contract a commitment to retain one of the league’s top kickers for years to come.
