The Miami Dolphins announced on Monday morning that they plan to release quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, prompting Tagovailoa to respond publicly for the first time. He shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram account, addressing the Dolphins organization, his teammates, and the fans who have supported him throughout his career.
Reflecting on Six Years in Miami
Tagovailoa expressed deep gratitude for his time with the Dolphins, writing,
“Thank you for six unforgettable years.”
He acknowledged the unwavering belief and encouragement he received from the team and city from day one. During his tenure, Tagovailoa experienced many personal milestones, including marrying his wife and welcoming two children, moments he treasured deeply.
“From the moment I arrived, you believed in me, supported me, and embraced my family as your own. I was able to marry my wife and welcome both my kids to this world. I was able to fortunately allow them to experience life from one I never got to growing up. Wearing this jersey and representing this city has been one of the greatest joys of my life,”
he wrote.
Regret and Looking Ahead
Despite his affection for Miami, Tagovailoa reflected with regret on not securing a championship for the Dolphins during his six-year run. Still, he emphasized that the city will
“always hold a special place in my heart.”
With $54 million guaranteed for this year, Tagovailoa is positioned as a valuable asset for other NFL teams seeking a quarterback as he prepares to find the next chapter in his professional journey.
