Blake Grupe Re-signs with Colts on $1.4M Contract Deal

Blake Grupe, who finished the 2025 season as the Indianapolis Colts’ kicker, has agreed to return for the 2026 season under a one-year contract worth up to $1.4 million. This agreement was confirmed by Grupe’s agent, Mike Delle Donne, in discussions with NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo. The new deal enables Grupe to compete for the kicking position in the upcoming season.

Grupe’s Performance and Transition During the 2025 Season

During the previous season, Grupe began with the New Orleans Saints but was released after playing 11 games. Indianapolis subsequently signed him to replace Michael Badgley. Over the final five games of the season with the Colts, Grupe achieved a perfect 11-for-11 record on field goals. His career statistics include 57 successful field goals out of 75 attempts with the Saints, alongside an impressive 96-of-98 record on extra point conversions.

Competition for the Kicking Role Ahead of 2026 Season

Initially, Spencer Shrader served as the Colts’ kicker at the start of the 2025 season but suffered ACL and MCL injuries in Week 5, sidelining him. If Shrader recovers in time for the preseason, he is expected to compete alongside Grupe for the kicking job in Indianapolis, setting the stage for a competitive training camp.

Outlook for the Colts’ Special Teams in 2026

The re-signing of Blake Grupe ensures continuity at the kicker position for the Colts as they prepare for the next season. His consistent performance late last season provides the team with a reliable option, while the potential return of Spencer Shrader could create competition that drives both players to perform at their best. The final roster decision is likely to hinge on preseason evaluations, influencing the Colts’ special teams strategy moving forward.
