The Carolina Panthers have re-signed cornerbacks Akayleb Evans and Robert Rochell, according to NFL insiders Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero. This move aims to strengthen the Panthers’ defensive backfield ahead of the upcoming season.
Robert Rochell’s Journey Through Multiple Teams
Robert Rochell, 27, was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams after playing college football at Central Arkansas. He was in the third year of a four-year rookie contract worth over $4 million when the Rams released him during final roster cuts in the preseason.
Following his release, Rochell joined the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad but was released after a few weeks. He then signed with the Panthers before being picked up by the Green Bay Packers, who brought him back for the 2024 season and assigned him to their practice squad.
In March, Rochell signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs but was waived before the season started. He later joined the Dallas Cowboys practice squad, appearing in two games, before the Panthers signed him for a second stint.
During the 2025 season, Rochell appeared in six games split between the Panthers and Cowboys, recording a total of four tackles.
