Patriots Bet on Romeo Doubs as Drake Maye’s Top Target

Romeo Doubs agreed to a four-year, $70 million contract with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, positioning himself as a potential No. 1 receiver by 2026. This move raises anticipation about whether the Patriots will add more receivers this offseason, but it clearly enhances Doubs’s value for fantasy football managers. He is projected as a high-end No. 3 fantasy receiver and could enjoy a breakout season as Drake Maye’s primary offensive weapon.

Doubs’s Performance History and Potential for Growth

During four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Doubs never averaged above 12 PPR points per game. His best year came in 2025, when he recorded 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns across 85 targets, averaging 11.9 PPR points per game. As he steps into a role formerly held by Stefon Diggs, who averaged 14.2 PPR points in 2025 with 85 catches, 1,013 yards, and four touchdowns on 102 targets, Doubs is expected to see a similar target load. Diggs averaged six targets per game last season, and that figure represents a promising opportunity for Doubs to increase his production.

Target Competition and Fantasy Outlook

In 2025, Doubs had eight games with at least six targets and scored at least 13.2 PPR points in five of those contests, averaging 16.8 PPR points during that span. While Doubs will compete for targets alongside Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, and Kyle Williams, he is anticipated to stand out in New England’s receiving corps. The Patriots’ offseason is not yet complete, but Doubs’s addition seems to set the stage for the best season of his career.
