Facing Adversity and Choosing to Persevere
Hurts recounted how adversity weighed heavily on him, noting he felt doubted and torn apart by criticism. Despite these pressures, his passion for football ultimately outlasted his fears.
“I just persevered… my passion overcame every ounce of doubt. Overcame every ounce of fear, and I think that’s the number one thing in life,”
he explained.
He emphasized the importance of resilience and courage, adding,
“You got to have the courage to press forward. And so, without the courage and perseverance and the resilience and the passion, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Hurts’ journey took a pivotal turn after transferring from Alabama to Oklahoma, where he transitioned from being a backup to becoming a leading quarterback prospect. His growth caught the attention of the NFL, leading to the Philadelphia Eagles selecting him 53rd overall in the 2020 NFL Draft and eventually naming him their starting quarterback over Carson Wentz.
Since entering the league, Hurts has led the Eagles to two Super Bowl appearances, ultimately winning Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs. His perseverance was rewarded as he was named the Super Bowl MVP.

Hurts expressed the magnitude of his achievement, describing the intense work required to reach such a pinnacle.
“For 364 days of the year, you work day-in and day-out — blood, sweat and tears — just for one moment and that’s to hold that trophy,”
