Riq Woolen Strikes One-Year Deal to Boost Eagles’ Defense

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement with cornerback Riq Woolen on a one-year contract, aiming to enhance their defense for the upcoming season. This move comes amid several key players’ departures early in the free agency period, with Woolen expected to earn up to $15 million during the 2026 campaign.

Woolen Brings Experience from Super Bowl Champions to Philadelphia

Woolen, previously a staple of the Seattle Seahawks secondary, joins the Eagles as they seek a return to the Super Bowl. After being drafted in the fifth round in 2022, he quickly established himself as a Pro Bowl player. In the 2025 regular season, he contributed 41 tackles and an interception, adding eight tackles and four passes defensed in the postseason.

Adding Depth to Eagles’ Secondary After Recent Changes

Joining teammates Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, Woolen steps into a secondary that recently lost safety Reed Blankenship. His addition helps fill that gap and brings veteran presence to a group that will be critical for the Eagles’ defense moving forward.
