Veteran offensive lineman Matt Pryor has signed a one-year agreement with the Arizona Cardinals, as reported by NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo. The deal marks Pryor’s move to the Cardinals after a one-year return stint with the Philadelphia Eagles, who originally drafted him in 2018.
The 31-year-old offensive lineman joins the Cardinals as they look to strengthen their roster, particularly focusing on improving protection around their quarterback, Kyler Murray. Pryor’s experience across multiple offensive line positions makes him a valuable candidate for a backup role with Arizona.
A Career of Versatility and Movement Across the NFL
Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 332 pounds, Matt Pryor hails from TCU and was initially selected by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. After spending the first part of his career in Philadelphia, Pryor was traded in 2020 to the Indianapolis Colts.
Following two seasons in Indianapolis, Pryor went on to have one-year tenures with both the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears before rejoining the Eagles in 2025. During that season, he played in all 17 regular-season games with one start, along with participating in the Eagles’ playoff loss to San Francisco, accounting for 12% of the offensive snaps.

2025 Season and Role with the Eagles
In Philadelphia’s injury-challenged offensive line during 2025, Pryor filled in as a backup at both guard and tackle on the right side, although his performance in limited action was uneven. The Eagles eventually signed Fred Johnson from Jacksonville to fulfill swing tackle responsibilities, while Brett Toth emerged as the primary interior backup. This season was also notable for being Jeff Stoutland’s final year as Philadelphia’s offensive line coach.
Pryor’s backup role was underscored despite his familiarity with the Eagles’ system and his past contributions. The team’s decision to re-acquire other personnel reflected their search for reliable depth along the line during a challenging year.
Arizona Cardinals’ Strategy and Pryor’s New Opportunity
Under the guidance of head coach Mike LaFleur and general manager Monti Ossenfort, the Arizona Cardinals have prioritized reinforcing their offensive line to better shield starting quarterback Kyler Murray, who is anticipated to be released soon. Pryor’s size and ability to play multiple positions along the line position him well to compete for a backup spot in the team’s roster.
Free Agency Movement Among Eagles Players
Matt Pryor joins several Philadelphia players who have left via unrestricted free agency this offseason. Notable departures include defensive starters Jaelan Phillips to Carolina, Nakobe Dean to Las Vegas, and Reed Blankenship to Houston, as well as wide receiver Jahan Dotson, who signed with Atlanta.
