Denver Summit FC shattered the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) single-game attendance record by selling 45,000 tickets for its inaugural home match, titled The Kickoff, scheduled at Empower Field on March 28. This milestone surpasses the previous record of 40,091 tickets set last August for the Bay FC versus Washington Spirit game in San Francisco.
Record-Breaking Debut Draws Massive Crowd
The club’s first home game will take place at noon on March 28, marking a significant moment as Denver’s first professional women’s soccer franchise begins its journey. Tickets start at $20, with the team opening the upper levels of Empower Field to accommodate the large number of fans eager to witness this historic occasion. Denver Summit FC President Jen Millet highlighted the event’s importance, stating,
“The Kickoff is going to be a defining moment for sports in Colorado,”
and added,
“The Denver community continues to show why Denver is a soccer city. We want everyone across the Front Range to join us as we make history.”
Building Momentum with Early Matches and Broadcast Support
Prior to hosting its record-setting event, Denver Summit FC will face Bay FC on March 14. Fans can watch this match through Denver7’s The Spot Denver 3 channel, reflecting the strong media partnership backing the team’s inaugural season and beyond. Approximately 21 games are scheduled to be televised on this platform, strengthening local engagement with the expansion club.
Significance of Denver’s NWSL Expansion
As one of two new teams entering the NWSL in 2026, Denver Summit FC’s early success signals growing enthusiasm for women’s professional soccer in Colorado and the broader Front Range region. The record attendance not only underscores community support but also promises a vibrant future for the franchise and women’s sports in the area. This breakthrough could influence how other expansion teams plan their launches and engage fans moving forward.
