Rory McIlroy, the world number two and reigning Masters champion, has announced he will be returning to Augusta National next week as part of his preparation for the upcoming Masters tournament in April. Having secured the career Grand Slam with his victory at Augusta last year, McIlroy now aims to become one of the select few golfers to win consecutive Green Jackets.
Speaking at the Genesis Invitational, McIlroy revealed that he will play a round at Augusta National alongside his father, Gerry, and the club’s chairman, Fred Ridley.
“I’m going to go up there and play with the chairman next week, actually, yeah.”

Previous Visits and Filming at Augusta National
This upcoming round will not mark McIlroy’s first return to Augusta since his historic Masters win. He recently visited the course to participate in filming activities, likely connected to the media coverage ahead of the tournament.
Reflecting on that visit, McIlroy shared the experience of seeing his name in the champions’ locker room, alongside other multiple-time winners.
“It was cool to get up to the champions’ locker room and see my nameplate alongside the other two champions that I share a locker with,”
he said.
“Yeah, different feels the first time staying on site without having to need a member there. There are a lot of perks you get with being a champion.”
