Tiger Woods Out of Crucial TGL Finale Amid Recovery Hopes

Tiger Woods will not be playing for his TGL team, Jupiter Links GC, during the regular-season finale against The Bay Golf Club on Tuesday. Jupiter currently occupies fifth place in the six-team standings, trailing the playoff cutoff by just one point, and a victory over Bay would secure their spot in the postseason.

Without Woods, the Jupiter roster features Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and South Korea’s Tom Kim. They will face off against Bay’s team, consisting of Wyndham Clark, Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, and Australia’s Min Woo Lee. Woods’s absence marks a significant loss as Jupiter aims for a playoff berth.

Woods’s ongoing recovery delays participation in second TGL season

Woods’s recovery from a torn Achilles tendon sustained in March 2025, alongside his seventh back surgery in October, has delayed his ability to compete in the simulator golf league he co-founded with Rory McIlroy. It appears likely Woods will miss the entire second season. If Jupiter advances, a semifinal match is scheduled for March 17, followed by the finals the next week.

Woods discusses rehabilitation and potential return at the Masters

While Woods has not set a definitive comeback date, he remains hopeful about returning to major competition this year. Speaking in January, he detailed the slow progress in recovery.

“I’m moving up to short irons, ‌so that’s about it,”

Woods said.

“I need a little bit more than that to be able to play (on TGL). At my speed right now, I could probably play the Stinger hole. Just kind of roll it off the tee. But no, I’m progressing, which is nice. I’m getting there ‌and getting stronger. It’s just one of those things where it just takes so much time for the bone to heal and the bone to set.”

When answering questions from reporters during last month’s Genesis Invitational, Woods did not exclude the possibility of competing in April’s Masters, noting that he is now capable of hitting full shots.

“Not well every day, but I can hit them,”

he remarked.

Implications for Woods’s career and the TGL league

Tiger Woods’s absence in the final TGL regular-season match underscores the ongoing challenges he faces in recovery, affecting both his tournament appearances and participation in the league he helped to establish. Jupiter Links GC’s playoff chances hinge on performing without their star player, while Woods’s potential return at the Masters remains cautiously optimistic. The coming weeks will offer greater clarity on his readiness for competition and could mark a pivotal chapter in his comeback journey.
