Dink Minor League Pickleball Arizona Championship: The Dink Minor League Pickleball event will take place on August 9 and 10, 2025, at 9190 East Talking Stick Way in Scottsdale, Arizona. Organized by Will Plantillas and the American Pickleball League, this event is part of the Arizona State Championship and features competitive play for athletes across various skill levels. Registration closes on August 6, and players must join as a team. Entry costs $80 per player.
The tournament will feature dupr/”>DUPR 14, 16, and 20 divisions on August 9, and DUPR 16 Juniors, DUPR 16 50+, and DUPR 18 divisions on August 10. All matches begin at 10:00 a.m.
Exciting Prizes and Free Perks
Top-performing teams will win cash prizes and sponsor gifts. In DUPR 14, first place wins $800, second place receives DINK Eyewear, and third place gets Currex Pro Insoles and Flick Weights. DUPR 16 and 18 winners take home $1,000, with second and third place earning Skechers gift cards and other gear.
DUPR 20 champions also get $1,000. DUPR 16 50+ and DUPR 16 Juniors offer $800 for the winners. Minimum team numbers are required for full prize payouts. Ike’s Sandwiches will provide free food for all players, and professional photos will be taken by Tony’s Lens.
Game Format and Rules
Teams of four players (two women, two men) will compete in matches using the MLPlay™ format. Each match includes one women’s doubles game, one men’s doubles game, and two mixed doubles games. Each game goes to 21 points. If tied 2-2, the match goes to a “dreambreaker/”>Dreambreaker™” – a singles tiebreaker with rotating players every four rallies until one team reaches 21 and wins by two.
Teams will play within their assigned DUPR skill division:
- DUPR 14: Team total must not exceed 14.3
- DUPR 16: Team total must not exceed 16.3
- DUPR 18: Team total must not exceed 18.3
- DUPR 20: Team total must not exceed 20.99
Individual DUPR limits also apply. Once registered, a team’s DUPR ratings are locked and will not change their placement. Players must have a DUPR account. If not, the tournament director will verify their estimated skill level.
Team Building and Substitutes
Players without teams may still register. Organizers will try to match them with a team. If no match is found, those players will get a refund. Substitutes are allowed, but changes must not raise the team above the DUPR limit. Players can update rosters through Swish or by contacting the organizer.
Rules and Refunds
Refunds are available only if requested 15 days before the event, minus a $5 tech fee and 3% processing fee. Single players who aren’t placed on a team will receive a full refund, minus fees, within 3-5 business days after the event.
