Birmingham Stallions Sign DB Jesse Johnson III to Boost Defense

On Monday, the Birmingham Stallions announced the signing of defensive back Jesse Johnson III to enhance their defensive lineup. This new acquisition aims to strengthen their secondary as they prepare for the upcoming season, continuing their focus on building a robust defense.

Jesse Johnson III’s Collegiate Football Journey

Jesse Johnson III, a 5-foot-11, 168-pound player from Columbus, Ohio, began his college football career at Eastern Illinois University in 2020 but did not participate in any games during his time there. He then transferred to Tiffin University, where over 32 games, he recorded 54 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 pass breakups. His 2023 season marked a career-high with 28 tackles and six pass breakups across 11 games.

In 2024, Johnson moved to Austin Peay State University. That year, he set new personal bests by making 46 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, returning four interceptions for 99 yards with one touchdown. He also added six pass breakups and a fumble recovery over 12 games and earned Second Team All-UAC honors for his performance.
