Kennewick Set for New Pickleball Complex with Pro Shop Coming in 2026

Kennewick Set for New Pickleball Complex: Paul Starita plans to bring a new indoor pickleball facility to Kennewick, offering a membership-based model similar to his successful Flying Pickle facility in Nampa, Idaho. The facility will feature amenities like court reservations, a pro shop, and a restaurant, with a projected opening in early 2026.

Membership Model and Features

The Flying Pickle operates on a membership system where players pay a monthly fee for guaranteed court space. “We have a member-to-court ratio we use. We want our members to use our courts,” Starita explained.

Membership at the Boise location reached its cap within 10 months, showing strong demand. However, even non-members can play as guests by paying a fee.

Starita emphasized that the Kennewick facility will offer similar benefits, including court reservations, a lounge, locker rooms, and youth programs. It will also feature acoustically designed courts for the best playing experience.

What Makes This Facility Special

Starita described the Kennewick facility as a “pickleball player’s paradise.” The 50,000-square-foot facility will have 18 to 20 courts and is designed to cater to pickleball enthusiasts of all levels. Besides the courts, the facility will include a pro shop and restaurant, making it a place for both socializing and playing.

“I’ve done a lot of business in the Tri-Cities, and I come to the Tri-Cities a lot,” said Starita, who also owns several Paul Mitchell Schools in the region. “So the area there I know is nice.”

Growing Popularity of Pickleball

Pickleball continues to grow rapidly across the U.S., and Starita sees it as a great business opportunity. “It’s the fastest growing sport in America,” he said, citing the sport’s accessibility and appeal to all age groups. The Kennewick project reflects the increasing demand for indoor pickleball courts in areas like the Tri-Cities.

Impact of the New Facility

The new indoor facility will likely attract more pickleball players to Kennewick, giving the growing community of enthusiasts a dedicated space to play year-round.

The addition of amenities like food, shopping, and youth programs also highlights the facility’s role as a community hub for local residents.
