Sarasota’s Nonagenarian Pickleball Trio Lead by Example with Ageless Spirit on the Pickleball Court

Sarasota’s Nonagenarian Pickleball Trio: A trio of nonagenarians in Sarasota continues to thrive through pickleball, showcasing their love for the sport and life. Ray Gullo, 90, Alyce Gee, 89, and Lyn Macbeth, 90, play several times a week, inspiring others with their athleticism and camaraderie.

A Lifelong Commitment to Fitness

Gullo, Gee, and Macbeth have led active lives filled with various sports. They have participated in marathons, tennis, racquetball, and lacrosse before turning to the sport. “Some of the stuff is worn out, the knees are rusty,” Gullo said, but they remain committed to staying fit and active.

Terry Ryan, owner of SarasotaPickleball.com, praised the trio, saying, “I loved them the minute I met them because they’re all so fun and sassy as heck.” Their competitive spirit shines through, with Gee declaring, “You betcha! Do I look competitive? I am!”

A Positive Outlook on Life

The three friends enjoy social gatherings off the court as well. “We party, we constantly have parties,” said Gee. Their longevity, they say, comes from a mindset of staying active and engaged.

“It starts with your head. Tell yourself, you can do it,” Gee advised. Macbeth added, “I hope more people look at their life and say hey it’s not over yet.”

Encouraging Others

Their story serves as an inspiration for younger generations, proving that age should not limit one’s activities. By remaining active in pickleball, Gullo, Gee, and Macbeth show that a positive attitude and an active lifestyle can lead to a fulfilling life, regardless of age.
