Hopkinsville to Showcase Pickleball Talent at First SPA Tournament in May 2025

Hopkinsville to Showcase Pickleball Talent: Hopkinsville is set to host its first-ever Kentucky pickleball tournament organized by the Southern Pickleball Association (SPA). The event will take place on May 8th and 9th, 2025, at the Planters Bank Jennie Stuart Sports Complex, a state-of-the-art facility that is expected to provide the perfect setting for the tournament.

Event Background and Location Selection

This milestone tournament follows the visit of the Huddle Up Group in November 2024, which gathered various sports rights holders to explore potential venues across Bowling Green, Madisonville, and Hopkinsville.

After thorough discussions and careful consideration, Amy Rogers, Executive Director of the Hopkinsville Convention and Visitors Bureau, shared that the Southern Pickleball Association selected Hopkinsville as the ideal location to host the prestigious event.

Tournament Details and Registration

The tournament is sanctioned by the Southern Pickleball Association, and winners of the event will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2025 Southern Pickleball Championships. These championships are scheduled to take place from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026, at Rhythm and Rally in Macon, Georgia, the world’s largest indoor pickleball facility.

The competition will take place over two days:

  • Saturday, May 8th: Men’s and Women’s Doubles
  • Sunday, May 9th: Mixed Doubles

Registration costs $60 for one event, with an additional $10 fee for each extra event.

Giving Back to the Community

As part of its commitment to the local community, the Southern Pickleball Association will donate $10 per player to Grace and Mercy, a local charity supporting Hopkinsville residents in need.

Looking Ahead

Rogers expressed excitement about the event, stating that the Hopkinsville Convention and Visitors Bureau looks forward to a successful tournament and is hopeful for the continued surge and development of pickleball in the region in the years to come.
