Shelbyville Opens Pickleball Courts for Spring: The Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Department has officially opened the outdoor pickleball courts at Blue River Memorial Park, welcoming players back for the season as warmer temperatures arrive ahead of spring’s official start on March 20.
Pickleball Courts See Growing Popularity
Installed in 2024, the pickleball courts at 725 Lee Boulevard quickly became a popular spot for local players. With the courts now open for the season, players of all skill levels can enjoy outdoor games once again.
Expanding Access to Outdoor Sports
In addition to pickleball, Shelbyville has also opened basketball courts at:
- Morrison Park (801 S. West St.)
- Kennedy Park (200 Minster Drive)
Both locations are open daily from dawn to dusk, giving the community more outdoor recreation options.
Shelbyville’s Bicycle Share Program Resumes
To complement the park openings, Shelbyville’s bicycle sharing program is now available at docking stations located at:
- Blue River Memorial Park
- Downtown Shelbyville
- Trailhead near the railroad tracks on North State Road 9
Bikes can be checked out for free using a bank card, ensuring they are returned by 10 p.m. daily.
