Pickleball players in Richmond, Virginia, will compete for more than just points this weekend. The inaugural Jacob’s Chance Classic Pickleball Tournament kicks off on Saturday, March 8, at Bangers & Dinks, raising funds to support children and adults with disabilities.
A Tournament with a Mission
The event benefits Jacob’s Chance, a non-profit dedicated to reducing social isolation by providing accessible sports and life skills programs for individuals ages 4 to 40 with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Executive Director Kate Mardigan emphasized that the tournament is about more than just fundraising—it’s a chance to highlight the impact of inclusion.
“This is a great moment for people to see who we are serving and how amazing they are and what a great part of the community. They do so much for the community, and this is a great moment just to have them be able to shine.” – (Mardigan)

Jacob’s Chance works year-round to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in sports, social events, and life-skills programs. Events like the Classic Pickleball Tournament help raise awareness and bring people together in a welcoming, supportive environment.
