The Town of Oak Island Recreation is launching its Oak Island Pickleball Academy this summer, providing a structured, fun, and engaging learning environment for pickleball players of all skill levels. The program will be held at the Middleton Park Complex tennis courts, giving participants a chance to hone their skills, gain match experience, and enjoy the rapidly growing sport.

Weekly Pickleball Training for Beginners

The Oak Island Pickleball Academy will run weekly from June 2-27 and August 4-22, allowing participants to register for one or multiple weeks based on their availability and training goals.

  • Location: Middleton Park Complex tennis courts, 102 SE 47th St.
  • Age Groups:
    • Beginner (ages 6-9) – Designed for young players who are new to the sport.
    • Intermediate (all ages) – Aimed at players looking to refine their skills and improve their game.
  • Fees:
    • Beginner – $60 per week
    • Intermediate – $110 per week
  • Lesson Structure:
    • Beginner sessions: 1-hour daily lessons focused on fundamentals, paddle control, and basic rules.
    • Intermediate sessions: 1.5-hour daily lessons and match play, emphasizing strategy, movement, and competitive techniques.
