Pickleball Courts to Promote Health and Community Engagement

The project, led by the Association for A Better Rockport, seeks to build four state-of-the-art pickleball courts. The funds will also be used to install fencing and shaded seating.

This project reflects our commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Rockport by providing fun, active, and engaging recreation for residents of all ages. I can’t wait to see everyone out there enjoying the game!” – (Rockport Mayor Cathy Kirkpatrick)

IHCDA officials believe the courts will encourage physical activity and social interaction.

These courts will increase health, wellness,s, and social connection for everyone in the community.” – (Matt Rayburn, Chief Real Estate Development Officer, IHCDA)

Community-Driven Funding Initiative

The crowdfunding effort is part of IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program, which helps fund projects in Indiana communities. Since 2016, the program has raised over $12.5 million in donations and provided $10.6 million in matching funds. Non-profit organizations and local governments can apply, with eligible projects receiving up to $50,000 in matching funds.

For this project, the first $50,000 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar. If the goal is met, construction on the new courts could begin soon, bringing a fresh recreational opportunity to Rockport.
