LucStrong Spring Pickleball Tournament—Compete for a Cause That Truly Matters

The LucStrong Spring Pickleball Tournament will take place on April 12-13, 2025, at Arroyo Vista Community Park in Moorpark, California. This pickleball event will raise funds for The LucStrong Foundation, which supports families affected by sickle cell disease (SCD). All registration fees will go toward providing financial assistance for medical bills, rent, food, and other necessities.

Honoring Luc’s Legacy Through Pickleball

The pickleball tournament was created to honor Luc, the late son of foundation co-founder Matt Bodden. Luc passed away at the age of 10 due to SCD. The event aims to bring players together to compete while contributing to a meaningful cause.

The LucStrong Foundation has partnered with 16 children’s hospitals, including CHLA, City of Hope, and UCLA Mattel, to assist families in need. Participants will not only enjoy competitive play but also help provide grants for those struggling with the costs of medical care.

Tournament Format and Rules

The event will feature a set partner round-robin format across two days:

  • Saturday: Men’s and Women’s Doubles

  • Sunday: Mixed Doubles

Matches will take place on eight outdoor courts, with medals awarded to the top three teams in each division. Winners will be determined using the SWISH App. Official USA Pickleball rules will be followed, and only approved paddles will be allowed.

Registration and Player Requirements

Each player must register and pay as a team, with a $70 entry fee per participant. To compete, players must create a DUPR account and link it to the SWISH Sports app before arriving at the tournament.

Participants will have access to free snacks and water, with additional food options available for purchase. Free parking will also be provided at the venue.

No Refunds, but a Lasting Impact

As a fundraising event, refunds will only be issued if the tournament is canceled. The goal is to maximize support for children battling SCD.

The event offers an opportunity for pickleball players to compete while making a difference in the lives of families affected by the disease. Organizers expect a strong turnout and a weekend of meaningful competition.
