Gladstone Pickleball Courts Construction Update: Dream To Reality

Gladstone Pickleball Courts Construction Update: After a successful fundraising effort last fall, Gladstone Area Pickleball’s “Courts of Dreams” project is on the brink of completion. The initiative raised $66,101 through its crowdfunding campaign and secured an additional $50,000 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Construction commenced in May and is now moving towards the final stages.

Construction Progress

As of Monday, concrete was being poured around the designated pickleball courts. Gladstone Area Pickleball Treasurer Janet Beauvais highlighted the benefits of this stage, noting, “It provides a four-foot walking area that people can actually view the play being done. It also gives us a four-foot area to keep the grass and sand off the actual court surfaces.” The next steps include surface coloring and coating by Sealer King, followed by fencing installation from Delta Fence.

Future Outlook

Beauvais anticipates that the “Courts of Dreams” will become a central hub for pickleball enthusiasts, easing the congestion at the old Downtown Gladstone courts. She noted that excitement is building among the players and expressed hope that the new facility will be ready for use by early fall.

“We have many people now playing on our old courts in Downtown Gladstone, Some days, there are many, many people waiting to play. We have a lot of people that are excited to get on the courts, and hopefully we’ll be playing by early fall.”
