Hartford’s New Pickleball Courts Draw Crowds Before Project Is Even Finished

West Side Park Pickleball Courts: The City of Hartford has finished building six new pickleball courts at West Side Park, located at 544 West Sumner Street. As soon as the nets were set up, residents began using the courts to enjoy outdoor play during the recent good weather.

Fast Progress on Court Construction

The Hartford Parks and Recreation Department began work on the new courts in late May. Poblocki Paving completed the asphalt paving in two layers. After a short wait for the surface to settle, painting and finishing were completed about two weeks ago.

The department shared that park staff installed the nets quickly. With the nets and courts ready, many residents began playing almost right away.

Only Fencing Remains

The Parks and Recreation Department confirmed that the courts are already in use. Players have been enjoying sunny days and cool evenings on the new surface. The only step left in the project is to add fencing around the courts, which will be done soon.

New Courts a Big Win for Community

The new courts give Hartford residents more chances to play pickleball, a sport that continues to grow in popularity. Once the fencing is completed, the courts will offer even better play conditions and safety for users of all ages.
