Atascadero Fall Youth Pickleball Program: The City of Atascadero is now accepting registrations for its 2025 Fall Youth Pickleball program. Kids in 5th through 8th grade can sign up to learn and play pickleball this October at the Colony Park Community Center Gym, with classes starting on October 6 and running through October 29.
Fun, Fitness, and Fundamentals
The program aims to teach students the basics of pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S. It mixes parts of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Young players will learn rules, strategies, and skills in a fun and friendly setting that encourages learning and activity.
Classes will be held twice a week—on Mondays and Wednesdays. The 7th and 8th-grade group will meet from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., while 5th and 6th graders will play from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The program takes place indoors at the Colony Park Community Center Gym, located at 5599 Traffic Way.
Gear and Fees
All players should wear comfortable athletic clothes. Paddles will be available, but participants may bring their own if they prefer. The cost to join is $64 for Atascadero residents and $75 for non-residents.
Spots are limited, and registration closes on September 26. Organizers encourage early sign-ups to ensure a spot in this popular youth activity.
Why It Matters
This program gives young people a chance to stay active, meet new friends, and build confidence while learning a new sport. As pickleball continues to grow across the country, early exposure helps kids develop coordination and teamwork in a positive environment. Programs like this also support the city’s effort to provide accessible and engaging youth recreation options.
