Smash for a Cause Pickleball Event: The RCE Foundation is inviting Lakeland-area residents to take part in its “Smash for a Cause!” pickleball tournament on Friday, September 13, 2025. The event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Grasslands Golf and Country Club, located at 1600 Grasslands Boulevard in Lakeland, Florida.
The tournament will raise money to support local families in need. All skill levels are welcome, and players can choose to compete for cash prizes or play just for fun and a good cause.
Two Ways to Play
Players may register for one of two brackets. The Champions Bracket is for those who want to compete for cash prizes:
$1,000 for first place
$500 for second place
$150 for third place
The Play for the Cause Bracket is open to those who prefer a relaxed game and want to support the RCE Foundation’s mission.
Matches will use a rally scoring system to keep games fast and fun. The RCE Foundation called it “a community-centered day of sports, inclusion, and impact.”
Playing With Purpose
Proceeds from the tournament will help the RCE Foundation support families dealing with financial stress. These may include medical expenses, loss of insurance, or other household challenges.
Funds raised will go toward therapy, supplies, and tools that improve the lives of those in need. The RCE Foundation’s goal is to ease the burden on families facing difficult times.
