Triple Pickle Pickleball Series Serves Up Fun—and Big Support—for Lynchburg Nonprofits

Triple Pickle Pickleball Charity Series: A new pickleball tournament series called the “Triple Pickle” will launch in Lynchburg, Virginia, bringing players together to support three local nonprofits. The Free Clinic of Central Virginia, the Boys and Girls Club, and Impact Living Services will each host a tournament, with proceeds helping their community programs.

Tournaments to Support Local Causes

The first event, organized by Impact Living Services, will take place on October 4. Registration closes on October 1, and players can sign up through the websites of the participating nonprofits. The series continues with a tournament hosted by the Free Clinic of Central Virginia on December 6 and 7, which will include ice cream and food trucks. Registration for this event is already open. The Boys and Girls Club will host the final tournament in March, with registration details to be announced later this year.

Organizers Share Their Excitement

Derrick Brown, Executive Director of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia, said the event is a fun way to bring people together while helping others.

“I know this is going to be a great opportunity for people who are beginners and people who are pros to come together and support a great nonprofit and help our missions move forward,”(Derrick Brown).

Stephanie Reed, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club, highlighted the value of working as a team.

“Collaboration is the key. I think that’s something we need to work on more in our community, is just working together, especially in the nonprofit community. And so any way we can support each other and really cross promote what we all do, this is a perfect opportunity to do that,” (Stephanie Reed).

Adam Pavao, Executive Director of Impact Living Services, added that the tournament welcomes everyone.

“Everyone of all skill levels can participate, whether you are participating in the men’s, the women’s, or even mixed. So if you want to get together with one of your kids, a spouse, it’s a great time just to get out in the community, get active together and support great causes,” (Adam Pavao).

Building Community Through Pickleball

Organizers hope the Triple Pickle series will raise money and awareness for each nonprofit’s mission while creating a fun, inclusive event for players of all abilities. With three tournaments planned across different months, the series offers several chances for the Lynchburg community to stay active and give back.
