PickleRage Opens In Michigan: PickleRage has marked a significant milestone in the pickleball world by opening its inaugural indoor pickleball facility in the U.S., located in West Bloomfield, MI. The 32,000-square-foot venue, situated at 7290 Orchard Lake Road, boasts nine U.S. Open-style outdoor pickleball courts, designed to provide an optimal playing experience regardless of the weather. The new facility represents PickleRage’s first step in a broader expansion plan, with additional locations slated for Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, as well as other future sites across the country.
Unique Features and Investment
The facility’s standout feature is its state-of-the-art courts, constructed with CushionX technology. According to COO David Smith, “The biggest challenge is finding big spaces like this. We need 30,000 square feet or more, high ceilings and columns that are spread at least 40-feet apart.” Smith highlights the courts’ construction, noting that “They actually have seven layers to their construction. They’re designed to bounce like an outdoor court, but give cushion to the player. It makes a huge difference in terms of comfort of play and how the ball bounces. We also use outdoor balls. This all simulates an outdoor surface, but is easier on your body.”
Membership and Accessibility
PickleRage’s new facility offers both monthly memberships and pay-as-you-go options for visitors. Patrons can reserve courts or drop in for open play without needing to bring their own paddle or ball. The facility also hosts leagues, events, and round robins, and features an on-site pro shop for pickleball enthusiasts.
Operational Hours
The West Bloomfield facility operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., providing ample opportunities for players to enjoy the game in a top-tier environment.
