Baton Rouge Coach Launches X-treme Pickleball Trainer: Timothy Spinosa, a Baton Rouge native and P.E. coach with 15 years of experience, has created an innovative at-home pickleball trainer designed to improve hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
Spinosa’s passion for pickleball led him to obtain a PPR National Coaching Certification and start teaching the sport. However, he noticed a gap in the market: existing at-home trainers weren’t effective for pickleball. This realization inspired him to develop his solution, resulting in the creation of the X-treme Pickleball Trainer (XPT).
“After a few months of research and development, the X-treme Pickleball Trainer was born. I had to search for just the right combination of attaching it to the paddle and perfecting the rebound process. I tested lots of different elastic cord and ball combinations to get the best results. My students and fellow pickleball players all loved the product and I knew I was on to something special.” – (Spinosa)
“After months of research and development, the XPT was born,” Spinosa explained. He experimented with various elastic cords and ball combinations to perfect the device’s rebound process. The trainer attaches to a pickleball paddle using a hook-and-loop Velcro strap, with an adjustable length to suit all adults and children.
“The hook and loop velcro strap has a real pickleball attached by an elastic cord so you can practice the fundamentals of pickleball right in your own driveway, no partner needed. The XPT has continuous rebounding action and you can train anywhere anytime. Indoors or outdoors.” – (Spinosa)
“The XPT allows players to practice the fundamentals of pickleball anywhere, whether indoors or outdoors, without needing a partner.” Spinosa said. The continuous rebounding action offers an effective way to train at any time.
Spinosa emphasized that pickleball is an accessible sport for all ages, combining elements of tennis, ping pong, and volleyball.
“It’s not as physically demanding as other sports, but it still provides a great workout.” – (Spinosa)
Beyond physical benefits, Spinosa highlighted the brain health advantages of racquet and paddle sports. He referenced Dr. Daniel Amen, a renowned brain health expert, who has confirmed the cognitive benefits of these activities. The XPT, according to Spinosa, makes these benefits accessible to a wide range of individuals, including those who are injured, recovering, or handicapped.
“The world-renowned Dr. (Daniel G.) Amen, owner of The Amen Clinics with over 30 years of practice and over 200,000 brain scans, has confirmed these brain health benefits. The XPT allows almost anyone, even injured, recovering or handicapped individuals to enjoy these brain health benefits.” – (Spinosa)
The X-treme Pickleball Trainer (XPT), priced at $24.95, is available for purchase online through Amazon, Walmart, and Shopify, as well as in select stores around Baton Rouge. Each unit is handmade, tested, and assembled in the United States.
