New Pickleball Courts Coming to Long Valley: LONG VALLEY, NJ — Pickleball enthusiasts in Long Valley have reason to celebrate, as three new pickleball courts may soon be added to the township. Mayor Matthew Murello shared the exciting news on social media, revealing that the township is currently working on the project and seeking necessary approvals.
The new courts are planned to be built adjacent to the existing tennis courts at Rock Spring Park on East Springtown Road. The decision to expand the park’s amenities was discussed and approved during a recent Township Committee Work Session, where the exact location for the courts was also determined.
The sport is known for its fast-paced and engaging gameplay, attracting many adult residents in the township.
In response to the growing interest, the Washington Township Recreation Department launched adult pickleball lessons last fall. These classes, which are designed for beginners and advanced beginners, will be returning this fall, led by TJD Sports Academy.
The upcoming five-week sessions will take place on Sept. 12, 19, 26, and Oct. 10, 17, with a rain date of Oct. 24. Saturday sessions are also available on Sept. 14, 21, 28, and Oct. 5, 12, with a rain date of Oct. 19. Classes will be held at the Rock Spring Park Tennis Courts, with sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
