Tempe Welcomes Massive New Indoor Pickleball Hub: Menlo Group Commercial Real Estate has announced the arrival of The Picklr in Tempe, Arizona. This premier indoor pickleball franchise, known for its rapid expansion, will open a new location at Costco Plaza, 1315 W. Elliot Rd., in October 2024. The state-of-the-art facility will cover 25,760 sq. ft. to serve the growing community of pickleball enthusiasts.
“Finding the right real estate in the best location is not an easy task when it comes to pickleball. You need the right square footage, minimum 18 ft. ceiling height clearances and a landlord that allows the use,” said Ryan Werlich, Picklr Franchisee. “I engaged Menlo Group after many months of unsuccessful attempts to find a location with another broker. The Picklr, which signed its first lease in January 2021, has rapidly expanded to over 275 planned facilities across the United States. The Tempe location will be the first of three in the East Valley, and it will feature unlimited play on eight spacious courts, including two championship courts. The facility will also offer a dedicated training court, warm-up area, Pickleball Central Pro Shop, snacks and drinks, locker rooms with showers, and meeting rooms.
Menlo Group’s Jason Triano, CCIM, and Nicholas Aldini negotiated the long-term lease, assisted by transaction manager Mary Porter-Larsen. Brian Gast and Brian Harpel of Velocity Retail Group represented the landlord, Costco Plaza Property, LLC. Picklr’s strategic placement in Costco Plaza underscores the growing demand for unique recreational spaces in retail environments.
