Summer Paddle Battle Results: The Alexandria City Park buzzed with activity on August 24 and 25 as the Blind Squirrel Pickleball Club, in partnership with the Alexandria Pickleball Association, hosted the inaugural Summer Paddle Battle pickleball tournament. With 132 participants, the event spanned two days and featured a total of 308 matches, showcasing a wide range of skill levels.

Tournament director and APA board member Jen Swanson expressed her enthusiasm for the event’s success. “We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of the tournament and the support from the community,” Swanson remarked. Despite the hot weather and a light breeze, the tournament proceeded smoothly, with both newcomers and seasoned players contributing to a lively atmosphere. Swanson highlighted the excitement generated by the presence of high-caliber out-of-town teams.
Division Winners
In the men’s divisions, the top finishers included David Wegner/Andrew Wegner in the 2.0-3.50 skill division, Lewis Ekola/Tyler Sangren in the 3.75-4.25 division, and Daniel Fragodt/Tanner Gross in the 4.25-open division. The women’s divisions saw Kim Terrio/Tiffany Schafer take first place in the 2.0-3.49 division, while Kim Anderson/Jen Halman triumphed in the 3.5-4.25 division.
In the mixed divisions, the winners were Abby Bryant/Jameson Wanzek (2.0-3.5), Alison Sluke/Rodney Winter (3.5-4.0), and Coley Rezabek/Matthew Gilbert (4.0-open).
