Seeley Lake Pickleball Club Expands Outreach with New Initiatives

Seeley Lake Pickleball Club Expands Outreach: The Seeley Lake Pickleball Club is making a concerted effort to increase participation on the courts by expanding its outreach and providing more opportunities for the community.

Club Membership and Schedule

With approximately 55 members, the Seeley Lake Pickleball Club hosts games Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon. These sessions take place behind Seeley Lake Elementary School, adjacent to the baseball diamonds, where six outdoor pickleball courts are available. Participation during these times requires each member to have insurance, costing $30 annually. However, players can use the courts outside these designated times without needing insurance.

New Initiatives to Attract Players

Kerry Schaefer, the club’s vice president, highlighted their current initiative to attract individuals with traditional 8-to-5 jobs. To facilitate this, the club has introduced a rental service where people can borrow pickleball paddles and a ball. These can be picked up from The BBQ Pit in Seeley Lake. Schaefer stated, “Our hope here is that we can begin to get some of the after 5 p.m. age group, male and female, interested and once we do we can actually hold some training sessions.”

Training and Equipment

The club aims to train new instructors before some members relocate in October. The cabinet containing pickleball equipment is located at The BBQ Pit, where a driver’s license is required to access the key for the chest. Contributions from club members and a purchase of ten paddles from Cheryl Lewis at Citizens Alliance Bank have enhanced the equipment collection.

News in Brief: Seeley Lake Pickleball Club Expands Outreach

The Seeley Lake Pickleball Club is expanding its reach to include more players, particularly those with traditional 8-to-5 jobs. The club offers rental pickleball equipment through The BBQ Pit and aims to attract evening players for future training sessions. Membership requires $30 annual insurance, but non-members can use the courts outside of scheduled times. The club is also working to train new instructors before members leave in October.
