Pickleball Courts Coming to Kaukauna: Construction is officially underway for a six-court pickleball complex at LaFollette Park in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. The project, which broke ground last week, is set to deliver much-anticipated facilities for one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. According to Mayor Tony Penterman, the courts are on track for completion by late Spring 2025.
A Growing Sport for All Ages
Pickleball, a sport that merges the best elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, is drawing attention for its accessibility. Using a perforated plastic ball and paddles similar to those found in ping-pong, players of all skill levels can engage in this fast-paced game on a smaller, more manageable court. The simplicity of the rules has fueled its popularity, making it a hit in competitive and recreational circles.

Enhancing LaFollette Park’s Offerings
The pickleball courts are the latest enhancement to LaFollette Park, building on the success of a new playground that was dedicated just a few months ago, in June. The playground, designed with inclusivity in mind, features a universal swing and lower transfer platforms that enable users to access the various play structures with ease.
“It’s been a priority for us to make our parks accessible to everyone. The new playground surface is also rubberized to ensure mobility devices can navigate the area.” – (Mayor Penterman)
Anticipation Builds for 2025 Opening
With the playground already a hit, the addition of pickleball courts is expected to further solidify LaFollette Park as a local hub for outdoor activities. The courts will serve not just seasoned pickleball players but also newcomers eager to experience a sport known for its community-driven atmosphere and intergenerational appeal. As Kaukauna prepares for the grand opening in 2025, excitement continues to build around the growing interest in pickleball.
