2024 PRPA Championship: A Weekend of Fun, Play, and Paradise Awaits

The 2024 PRPA Championship is set to take place from October 11 to October 13, 2024, at the Palmas Athletic Club Racket Center in Humacao, Puerto Rico. This pickleball tournament invites participants to enjoy an extended weekend filled with beach relaxation, snorkeling, exquisite dining, and plenty of pickleball action.

  • Tournament Size: The largest and most important pickleball tournament in Puerto Rico.

What to Expect

Participants can look forward to a fun-filled experience, including food and drinks for purchase, raffles, and entertainment. Complimentary snacks and water will be provided for players. The first 300 players to check in will receive a T-shirt and swag bag. Additionally, a party will be held on Saturday night for players and their guests.

  • Free Snacks and Water: For players only.
  • Swag Bag and T-Shirt: For the first 300 players to check-in.
  • Saturday Night Party: Free for players; $35 for one guest.

Schedule of Events

The tournament schedule is as follows:

  • Friday, Oct 11: Tournament Day 1, 4 PM until the last game.
  • Saturday, Oct 12: Tournament Day 2, 8 AM until the last game, followed by a Beer Happy Hour and the Party at the PAC Beach Club.
  • Sunday, Oct 13: Tournament Day 3, 8 AM until the last game, followed by a Beer Happy Hour.

A USA Pickleball Certified Referee will be on-site to answer player questions and manage any on-court issues. Referees will also be available for medal matches.

Tournament Format

The tournament will utilize a round-robin format, playing to 11 with a win-by-two rule. Semifinals and finals will follow a single-elimination format, playing to 15 with a win by 2, except for the highest categories (Men’s Doubles 5.0, Women’s Doubles 4.5, Mixed Doubles 5.0), where finals will consist of 2 out of 3 games.

  • Format: Round robin playing to 11 (win by 2).
  • Semifinals and Finals: Single elimination playing to 15 (win by 2).
  • Highest Categories Finals: 2 out of 3 games.

Important Notes

The tournament director reserves the right to combine brackets if needed and may also modify or cancel events due to unforeseen circumstances such as insufficient participants or inclement weather.

  • Food and Beverage: Available for purchase on-site; coolers are not allowed.
  • Attire Requirements: No tank tops or sleeveless shirts for men, and no sports bras or bathing suits for women.

Additional Information

All players must be members of the Puerto Rico Pickleball Association to participate. Additionally, all matches will be recorded in DUPR, requiring players to open a free account.

The refund policy outlines that players can receive a 100% refund if they withdraw by September 30, 2024. No refunds will be issued after this date, and all refund requests must be made via email notification.
