New Skokie Pickleball Facility Promises Fun for Everyone in 2025

Skokie Pickleball Facility: A new indoor pickleball facility, aptly named Pickledilly, is ready to open its doors in Skokie in early 2025, offering a vibrant space for enthusiasts of all ages. According to co-owner Armi Cachila, the facility will feature 11 full-size pickleball courts and one half court, strategically located just south of Sketchbook Brewing on Main Street. This innovative space aims to cater to casual players and seasoned veterans of the sport, making it a welcome addition to the local pickleball community.

Creating a Welcoming Environment

Pickledilly, situated at 4919 Main Street, will be designed to foster an inclusive environment for players of all skill levels. “We want to make sure that we have youth programming like after-school programs,” Cachila stated, highlighting the facility’s commitment to engaging younger players.

The facility plans to offer dedicated hours for seniors, children, leagues, and open play, ensuring that everyone from rookies to experienced competitors can find their place on the courts. Operating daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., it will provide ample opportunities for players to enjoy the sport in a welcoming setting.

Programs and Opportunities for All Ages

Cachila, who became involved in pickleball as her children grew older, has experienced the sport’s growth firsthand. She emphasized the importance of creating programming tailored to youth and seniors, allowing players to improve their skills while enjoying the game.

“Amateur players who may not know much about the sport can also come in and play during open play,” she added. This inclusive approach aims to break down barriers for newcomers and ensure that everyone can participate in pickleball.

Dedicated Spaces for Various Skill Levels

In addition to the main pickleball courts, the facility will feature a half court designed specifically for newcomers to learn the game and for seasoned players to warm up before matches. Despite being half the size of a standard court, players will still have the chance to compete against each other, which Cachila believes is essential for developing skills and building confidence.

The pickleball courts will be equipped with CushionXX flooring, a five-inch thick overlay designed to protect joints, making it an ideal choice for players concerned about comfort and injury prevention. “It’s better for your joints,” Cachila noted, referencing the flooring’s benefits. This thoughtful design aligns with the facility’s goal of promoting health and wellness through sports.

A Growing Community and Future Plans

The Pickledilly facility represents a response to the growing popularity of pickleball, recognized as one of the “fastest-growing sports in America” by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association during the pandemic. Cachila and her husband, Nathan Cachila, co-founders of Pickledilly, are excited to meet the rising demand for indoor pickleball facilities, especially during the colder months when outdoor play is limited.

Initially, they faced challenges due to a lack of indoor options but persevered with support from the village of Skokie to find the right location for their vision.

Location and Accessibility

While Pickledilly will not serve food or beverages, its location next to Sketchbook Brewing allows for convenient access to refreshments, enhancing the overall experience for players. Cachila emphasized the intention behind the placement, noting that the nearby food trucks and drinks from the brewery will complement the facility perfectly.

As Skokie prepares for the opening of Pickledilly, anticipation is building within the community for this new hub of pickleball activity. The facility aims to provide a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment for players of all ages, contributing to the ongoing growth of this beloved sport.
