Pickleball Birthday Bash Benefits Local Families While Celebrating on the Court

Pickleball Birthday Bash Benefits Local Families: In a remarkable display of community spirit, Kramer Sneed, a dedicated pickleball enthusiast, spent his 36th birthday on the court, raising funds for a worthy cause. Hosted by Char Bar Smoked Meats & Pickleball, the event dubbed “Krame Day 4 United Way” took place on Sunday, October 6, and lasted an impressive 16 hours. The pickleball fundraiser was organized to support the United Way of Greater Kansas City, a non-profit committed to enhancing the quality of life for families throughout the metro area.

An Emotional Decision

Kramer, who took to the court at 7 a.m. and played until 11 p.m., was fueled by a deep sense of purpose. When asked why he chose this unique way to celebrate his birthday, his heartfelt response brought him to tears.

“I have a sister, when she turned 30 she ran 30 miles and that’s what gave me the motivation to do this. So, I don’t run – so I didn’t want to do that. So I said what do I do a lot of? I play a lot of pickleball.” – (kramer)

Unique Challenges for Donations

The pickleball event featured various ways for attendees to engage in the fun while contributing to the cause. Donors paid $20 for a doubles match or $60 for a one-on-one game against Kramer.

For an extra $20, they could introduce humorous challenges, such as wearing silly costumes or eye patches, adding a light-hearted twist to the matches. Additionally, opponents could flip the score at any time for a $100 donation, making for a lively and entertaining atmosphere.

Supporting the Community

With prizes and giveaways throughout the day, the event was not just about playing pickleball but also about building a stronger community. All proceeds from Krame Day will be donated to the United Way of Greater Kansas City, ensuring that families in the area receive the support they need.
