Louisville Prepares for Pickleball Street Fest Amid Growing Popularity

Louisville Prepares for Pickleball Street Fest: Pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, continues to surge in popularity. According to USA Pickleball, there are now 50,000 courts across the country. Louisville is set to add a few more courts in time for the Pickleball Street Fest this weekend.

Jim and Paul from our team are on the scene to cover the event. Jim, who has played pickleball for only 30 minutes, is enthusiastic about diving deeper into the sport.

The Pickleball Street Fest kicks off on Sunday morning with a tournament starting at 8 a.m. John Flutter, owner of Good Bounce, shared details about the event, emphasizing its inclusivity. “We’re reserving a couple of courts for those new to the sport. We’ll have paddles available and offer lessons,” he said.

“So we’re kicking it off with the tournament that’s running from 8. We’re also having a couple courts reserved so that you can come out, learn, try the sport. Everybody’s heard of it. A lot of people haven’t played it. So come on down. We have paddles and we’ll teach you how to play.” – (John Flutter)

The festival caters to all skill levels, with opportunities for both competitive play and casual participation. “Most people have heard about pickleball but haven’t played it. This is a great chance to try it out,” Flutter added.

The event, in partnership with Louisville Downtown Partnership (LDP), aims to showcase the beauty of downtown Louisville and introduce more people to pickleball. Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere with food trucks, bars, and entertainment.

“Yeah, that’s really two reasons why we’re partnering with LDP. One is to showcase downtown louisville and how gorgeous it is. The other is to introduce people to the sport. Like I said, most people have heard about it, come out and play. Bring your kids, they’ll have a great time as well. ” – (Flutter)

The festival promises a full day of fun starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to pickleball, the Pickleball Street Fest offers something for everyone.
