Pickleball Fun Awaits at Evansville’s New 3rd Shot Pickleball Facility

Pickleball Fun Awaits at Evansville: Pickleball is not just a trend; it’s a phenomenon. As the sport continues to surge in popularity, people of all ages are picking up paddles and diving into the game. In Evansville, the demand for places to play has led to the opening of a new indoor pickleball facility for players—an eight-court pickleball paradise that’s as much about community as it is about competition.

3rd Shot Pickleball: A Destination for All

Situated on the North Side of Evansville, 3rd Shot Pickleball stands out as the city’s first indoor facility dedicated entirely to this vibrant sport. Located conveniently between Green River, Burkhardt, Lynch roads, and Morgan Avenue, it’s designed to be more than just a place to play; it’s a destination.

The facility features a pro shop stocked with all sorts of pickleball supplies, as well as a bar that offers a small food menu for those looking to recharge between games.

While visitors can drop in without a membership, the $38 monthly fee comes with enticing perks. Members enjoy reduced court fees, the ability to reserve a court two weeks in advance, discounts on leagues and lessons, and even the option to establish a permanent court time. It’s an inviting setup for newcomers and seasoned players.

Not Just Another Franchise

3rd Shot Pickleball is the company’s fourth facility nationally, with locations in Colorado and Nevada. However, it’s essential to note that this isn’t a franchise. Each 3rd Shot location is privately owned and operated, allowing for a personalized touch that resonates with local communities.

Gina Adams, the managing partner of the Evansville location, found inspiration for this endeavor during a National Pickleball League tryout event in Texas. It was there that she connected with Adam Kahn, co-owner of the two 3rd Shot facilities in Colorado.

Their collaboration sparked the vision for Evansville’s own pickleball haven. Adams is also connected to Rick Witsken, a co-founder of the National Pickleball League, further enriching the network behind this new facility.

A Warm Welcome Awaits

The grand opening of 3rd Shot Pickleball on October 10 was a celebration of not just the sport, but the community it fosters. Adams emphasized that everyone interested in learning pickleball is welcome to join in. For those who may not have a paddle of their own, demonstration paddles are readily available, and regular lessons cater to newcomers eager to learn the game.

With coaches on staff, the facility offers assistance to beginners and advanced players looking to sharpen specific skills. Additionally, league play and open-court times are regularly scheduled, ensuring plenty of opportunities for everyone to get in on the action.

A Community Like No Other

Beyond the indoor pickleball courts, Evansville boasts several outdoor options for pickleball players, including Wesselman Tennis Center, Rivertown Pickleball Courts, Burdette Park, and facilities in Scott Township.

Other venues like Evansville Tennis Center, C.K. Newsome Community Center, and the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana also accommodate pickleball play, contributing to a thriving local scene. Adams shares her passion for the sport, highlighting the welcoming nature of the pickleball community.

“Pickleball strikes a balance of being both competitive and social. Players are so welcoming to everybody, no matter who you are, including beginners. They want to teach people how to play.” – (adams)
