Indoor Pickleball Dream in Mashpee Takes Shape

Indoor Pickleball Dream in Mashpee: Plans for a new indoor pickleball facility in Mashpee are gaining momentum, with a critical meeting set to discuss permitting later this month. Developer Bill Russel, is spearheading this exciting venture, which promises to transform the local sports scene.

A Comprehensive Sports Experience

The proposed Island Pickle facility, covering 3,438 square meters, is designed to be more than just a venue for pickleball players. With an ambitious layout that includes ten dedicated pickleball courts, the facility will also feature a sports tavern and eight Trackman indoor golf simulator lounges.

Bill Russel emphasized the facility’s multifaceted approach to sports and entertainment, stating,

“It’ll have eight Trackman indoor golf simulator lounges, a sports tavern which will be tricked out with televisions for broadcasting sporting events globally, and we’ll have a pro shop locker room.” – (Bill Russel)

He envisions the Island Pickle as a hub where sports fans can gather and enjoy a wide range of activities.

Addressing Community Concerns

The new facility is not just about providing a space for indoor play; it also aims to alleviate some of the issues surrounding outdoor pickleball. Bill Russel noted that the facility would help mitigate the noise complaints that have arisen in various towns across Cape Cod, responding to community concerns while promoting the sport.

“I’m in the process of going through the Cape Cod Commission hearing review schedule now and, once permitted, I hope to have the facility open in the summer of 2025.” Bill Russel added, indicating his optimism about the timeline and the project’s potential impact on the community.
