Blaze Pickle LLC Aims Newington for Indoor Court Expansion

Blaze Pickle LLC Aims Newington: Blaze Pickle LLC is stepping up to the challenge of meeting the growing demand for indoor pickleball facility by proposing a special permit to establish a seasonal facility in Newington. Located at 175 Lowery Place, this 33,000-square-foot space was once the bustling Local Market grocery store.

Plans for Seven Courts

The proposal, which features seven courts, is set to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission for a public hearing on October 23. If granted approval, this Newington location would mark Blaze Pickle’s second “pop-up” or seasonal venue. The company previously opened a nine-month seasonal facility with 12 courts at the site of a former Walmart in Guilford. That facility, which also hosted corporate events, welcomed pickleball enthusiasts from October 2023 to May of this year, until the temporary agreement lapsed and the property was sold.

A Short-Term Business Model

In its Newington application, Blaze Pickle emphasizes the necessity of such facilities, particularly during the colder months when outdoor play is limited. The business model is designed to offer more than just court space; it provides opportunities for clinics and events, ensuring that players can continue to engage with the fastest-growing sport in the United States. This proposal reflects not only the demand for pickleball but also the innovative approaches businesses like Blaze Pickle are taking to keep the game alive year-round.
