3rd Annual Hungry Games Pickleball Tournament Fights Hunger, Pickleball with a Purpose

3rd Annual Hungry Games Pickleball Tournament: The 3rd Annual Hungry Games tournament is set to kick off, aimed at providing meals for those in need during the Thanksgiving season. Organized by Kevin Huff in collaboration with Community Sports and Wellness, this year’s event promises to make a significant impact by providing thousands of meals through the efforts of all participants. Registration closes on November 17, and spots fill up quickly, so be sure to sign up early.

Pickleball Tournament Details

The Hungry Games will feature competitions in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, held on the following dates:

  • Friday, Nov 22: Singles (Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles)
  • Saturday, Nov 23:
    • Women’s Doubles
    • Men’s Doubles
  • Sunday, Nov 24: Mixed Doubles

Available Divisions

  • Singles: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+
  • Doubles:
    • Men’s Doubles: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+
    • Women’s Doubles: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+
  • Mixed Doubles: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+

Age Divisions: Open, 35+, and 50+ (with possible exceptions based on signups).

Limitations: Each doubles division will accommodate 5-10 teams, while 10 players can participate in each singles division. Adjustments will be made during registration to allow for more teams as needed.

Game Format

All events will be structured as round robin games to 11 points (win by 2). The top 4-8 teams will advance to a medal bracket, with bracket play conducted as single elimination to 11 points (win by 2) until the medal games.

  • Medal Games: All medal games, including singles medal brackets, will be played to 11 points (win by 2).

Costs and Fees

  • Registration Fee: $65, covering 1, 2, or all 3 events.
  • Service Fees: An additional $5 for one event or a maximum of $10 for multiple events (previously included in the registration fee).

Paddle Rules: Only USAPA approved paddles are permitted.

Balls:

  • 2.5 to 3.5 divisions will use the Franklin X-40.
  • 4.0+ divisions will use the GREEN Dura ball.

Incentives: All players will receive a $5 café voucher on the day of their first event, which can be donated back to the Hungry Games cause or spent at the on-site café.

Refund Policy

  • Refunds are available until November 10.
  • After November 10, refunds are not available; however, players have until noon on November 17 to find a replacement player/team. The tournament will assist with payment recovery if a replacement is found.

The pickleball tournament will take place at Community Sports and Wellness, located at 395 S. Heritage Way, Pendleton, Indiana 46064.
