Indoor Tennis and Pickleball Club Debuts in Yonkers, A Premier Spot for Pickleball

Indoor Tennis and Pickleball Club: Court 16, a prominent operator of indoor tennis and pickleball courts, has secured a lease for a sprawling 16,500 square feet at Ridge Hill in Yonkers. This strategic move signals the company’s plans to open an indoor tennis and pickleball club, expanding its reach beyond its existing facilities in downtown Brooklyn, Long Island City, and Manhattan. With the grand opening slated for next summer, the community eagerly anticipates the arrival of this new sporting venue.

Excitement for Westchester Expansion

“We’re thrilled to expand to Westchester.” expressed Anthony Evrard, the CEO and co-founder of Court 16. His enthusiasm was noticeable as he shared his vision for the new location.

“Ridge Hill’s family-friendly environment and premium retail lineup make it the perfect location for our next chapter. We’re really excited to share our remixed racquet sport culture with the community.” – (Anthony Evrard)

The sentiment reflects not only the company’s growth but also its commitment to engaging with residents and fostering a vibrant sports culture.

Court Features and Design

The Ridge Hill facility promises to be a well-equipped hub for racquet sports, featuring six courts: five standard 44-foot courts designed for pickleball and one expansive 60-foot court. For context, pickleball courts measure 44 feet long and 20 feet wide, while regulation tennis courts stretch to 78 feet long and 36 feet wide.

The unique aspect of pickleball is its use of a perforated plastic ball and solid paddle, distinguishing it from tennis, where strung rackets dominate the play. This sport is an engaging blend of elements from badminton, tennis, and ping pong, appealing to a diverse range of players.

More Than Just Sports

In addition to serving as a premier racquet sports venue, Court 16 at Ridge Hill will host a variety of events, including birthday parties, corporate gatherings, and other special occasions.

The facility plans to launch its Kids Academy in the spring of 2025, offering tennis classes tailored to various age groups and skill levels. Alongside this initiative, adult memberships and additional programming will be made available, further establishing Court 16 as a community-centered destination.

The successful arrangement of the lease was facilitated by the real estate advisory firm Alvarez & Marshal Property Solutions, showing the growing demand for such sports facilities in the region.

The Growing Popularity of Pickleball

As the sport gains momentum, it’s worth noting that, according to USA Pickleball, the national governing body for the sport in the United States, there were 50,003 known pickleball courts in the country as of January this year, located across 11,885 separate venues.

This statistic shows the sport’s exponential growth and the increasing interest among players of all ages.
