The Picklr Arrives in Cheyenne and Promises Exciting Amenities for Pickleball Players

The Picklr Arrives in Cheyenne: A new indoor pickleball venue is ready to open its doors in Cheyenne, right after the New Year. Colorado Pickleball ADA LLC, the franchising partner for The Picklr, announced plans for the facility at the former Big Lots location on East Lincolnway. This 22,000-square-foot space promises to elevate the local pickleball scene starting in January.

Facility Features and Services

The pickleball facility will feature eight indoor pickleball courts designed with outdoor-style surfacing, a pro shop, a private event space, and grab-and-go refreshments.

Services offered will include court reservations, drills, league play, clinics, tournaments, and open play, catering to all levels of players.

Meet the Owners

Ray Estes and Tanya Estes, U.S. Army veterans, are set to operate the Cheyenne pickleball facility. Their military backgrounds provide a strong foundation for this entrepreneurial venture.

Ray Estes’s military career includes service at the U.S. Military Academy, commonly known as West Point, where he worked as a family and marriage counselor as well as an ethics and leadership instructor.

Tanya Estes, a West Point graduate, holds a Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing and spent 13 years teaching information technology and computer science at the academy. A retired colonel, she is also a former Apache helicopter pilot, currently flying for United Express as part of CommuteAir.

A Passion for Pickleball

Ray Estes’s journey into pickleball began in 2020, sparked by a passion for the sport that grew quickly. Transitioning from a background in tennis, he became a competitive player with notable success at the 4.5 skill level.

“I quickly got drawn into the pickleball addiction and found myself playing three to five days a week for a couple of hours at a time. I really enjoyed the community camaraderie and competitive nature of the sport.” – (Ray Estes)

Despite his enthusiasm, Ray Estes found it challenging to access courts, often driving 75 minutes to Loveland, where he was a founding member of The Picklr Loveland.

“I’ve always wished there was a Picklr closer to me in Wyoming and really felt that one would be successful in Cheyenne.” – (Ray Estes)

After learning of The Picklr’s expansion plans, he approached one of the owners in Loveland, and after several discussions, they agreed that Ray Estes should take on the role of owner/operator for the new Cheyenne location.

Location and Hours

The pickleball facility is set to open at 3741 E. Lincolnway, with operational hours from 6 a.m. to midnight every day of the week.

With its comprehensive offerings and passionate leadership, The Picklr Cheyenne is anticipated to become a hub for pickleball players in the region.
