Organized through the NBHS Pickleball Club, participants meet every Monday on the school’s tennis courts, which are temporarily converted into pickleball courts. The club is supervised by teachers Tony Frias, Cindy Howe, and Mary Sherman, who are helping the students learn and enjoy the sport. With around 15 members this year, students have been practicing and competing in games for about an hour and a half each pickleball session.
The NBHS Pickleball Club started with a simple idea: to include pickleball as part of Homecoming week activities. Since then, the sport’s popularity has grown, leading to the formation of the club. Tony Frias, one of the club’s mentors, expressed his surprise and excitement at the level of interest from students.
“I am surprised that students have shown so much interest because it is very new, and we are still converting the tennis courts to pickleball courts. Students have been excited about joining the club and have expressed that they would like to expand the club season.” – (Tony Frias)

“If you want to just get some exercise and play for fun it can be easy to pick up and go play. However, if you want to be more competitive, you can play at a higher level.
