Dink and Drink: Calallen’s Premier Pickleball Destination

Calallen’s Premier Pickleball Destination: Nestled in the heart of Calallen, a vibrant new hub for pickleball enthusiasts is set to open its doors, promising not just courts but a community hub for America’s fastest-growing sport. Meet Dink & Drink, the brainchild of local entrepreneurs aiming to blend sports, socializing, and relaxation under one roof.

Embracing Pickleball’s Spirit: Insights from Local Enthusiasts

“It’s easy to learn,” remarked David Eckenrode, a North Padre resident and pickleball aficionado. “It’s fun to play and a very social game.” At 76 years young, Eckenrode embodies the spirit of pickleball—a sport that’s as much about camaraderie as it is about competition.

Joining him in anticipation is Lori Jones, 62, another Coastal Bend pickleball enthusiast eagerly awaiting the facility’s grand opening. “I mean everyone I know is very excited about it. We will drive. I live on the island but I’m happy to drive to Calallen to play at a nice facility like this because we don’t have anything like this yet in Corpus like they do in Houston, and San Antonio they are popping up everywhere.

From Vision to Reality: Dink and Drink’s Journey

According to Southern Winn, one of the co-owners, Dink & Drink has been two years in the making—a testament to their dedication to bringing a unique sporting experience to the community. “Pickleball is a unique experience,” Winn emphasized. “I think the vast majority of the community is very welcoming and will come check us out.”

Located at 14325 Northwest Boulevard, the former site of Landshark gym, Dink & Drink will feature both indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, catering to enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. But it’s not just about the game; the venue promises live music, food, refreshing drinks, and a host of amenities to enhance the overall experience.

Countdown to Opening: Rebecca Pina’s Enthusiasm

“We’re about 85 percent complete,” revealed an enthusiastic Rebecca Pina, an associate at Dink & Drink. “I strongly suggest people try it. Just try it once. One match takes twelve minutes, and it’s a little part of your day you’ll always remember.

As the countdown to its opening continues, the owners of Dink & Drink are targeting a launch by the end of this year, promising a new era for pickleball enthusiasts in Calallen and beyond. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious newcomer, Dink & Drink beckons—a place where sports, socializing, and enjoyment converge in perfect harmony.
