Gulfport and St. Pete’s Hottest Events: From July 4-10, Gulfport, Tampa Bay beaches, and surrounding areas offer a variety of must-see events, including a sandcastle competition, a night gardening club, and pickleball in St. Pete.
Visitors can explore the vibrant work of St. Pete native Traci Mims at the Woodson Museum. Mims’ solo exhibit, which showcases the lives of everyday Black people and their experiences, is presented through a variety of mediums.
Pickleball On July 9
Pickleball enthusiasts can join a complimentary class offered by Get Fit St. Pete at Bartlett Park, 2000 Seventh St. S., St. Petersburg. Paddles are provided for participants. Events in St. Pete on July 5
July 5th in St. Pete, attendees can first visit the St. Pete Beach Library from 4-5 p.m. to join the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, where they can meet Gulf Coast birds and learn about conservation efforts. Earlier in the day, from 1-3 p.m., there’s an opportunity to become an archaeologist at Weedon Island Preserve. Volunteers will assist in sorting and restoring historical items. Later in the evening, from 7-10 p.m., head to the St. Pete Shuffleboard Club for Friday Night Shuffle.
Events in St. Pete on July 6th
On July 6th, opportunities abound in the St. Pete area. From 8-10 a.m., volunteers can join the Trash Pirates of Mad Beach and Keep Pinellas Beautiful for a beach cleanup at John’s Pass Beach in Madeira Beach. Trash bags and koozies will be provided, and participants are advised to bring sunscreen and water. Later in the day, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Star Wars enthusiasts can celebrate at the Gulfport Public Library with a themed craft event. Drop in anytime to join the craft circle in the children’s area, though supplies are limited.
From July 9th to July 11th
On July 9th, Get Fit St. Pete offers Pickleball 101 at Bartlett Park from 6-7 p.m., providing paddles for participants eager to learn the popular sport. Pre-registration is required due to limited class size. Also on July 9th, the Garden Club of St. Pete hosts Night Gardeners at 500 Sunset Dr. S. from 6:30-7:30 p.m., welcoming all ages to participate in gardening activities.
Looking ahead to July 10th, Gulfport’s Neighborhood Watch convenes at the Gulfport Public Library from 6-8 p.m. This gathering offers updates on local neighborhood activities and discussions on community safety trends.
