Fall Tournament in Indiana and Missouri: Newburgh, Indiana, served as the gathering spot for local pickleball players in late October. The Rivertown Pickleball Annual Fall Battle in the Burgh drew 217 entries, showing the rising popularity of the sport.
The tournament was held at the recently opened New Rivertown Pickleball Complex, which began operations in August 2023. The competition featured a round-robin format across various divisions for players ranging from 3.0 to 4.0 skill levels and ages, including a 50+ category. The divisions included women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
Local Players Shine in Indiana
Among the standout performances were Kent Cadwell and Jason Bell, who went undefeated to claim gold in the 3.5 Men’s Doubles 50+ division. Their victory marked a dominant showing on Indiana’s home turf.
Meanwhile, Winnie Smee and Melissa Dumas made their debut in the 4.0 women’s division, earning a respectable fourth-place finish despite the challenge of competing at a higher skill level.
Missouri Tournament Results
In Springfield, Missouri, another team of competitors made their mark at the Fieldhouse Hallowdink Tournament. Held at the Fieldhouse Sportscenter & Ozark Pickleball Club, the event featured 94 entries competing in a round-robin format.
With 12 indoor courts available, players competed across multiple divisions, including Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Chad Hunt and Leigh Toby represented Indiana in the 4.0 Mixed Doubles, securing a silver medal for their efforts.
