Strong Start Sets the Tone
The Shock began the match with a solid women’s doubles win. Anna Bright and Kate Fahey defeated Tina Pisnik and Kaitlyn Christian 11-8. In the men’s doubles, Hayden Patriquin and Gabriel Tardio controlled the game and secured an 11-6 win over Christian Alshon and Eric Oncins.
With a 2-0 lead, the Shock needed just one more win to close the match. That came in the first mixed doubles game, where Kate Fahey and Gabriel Tardio took on Tina Pisnik and Eric Oncins.
Fahey and Tardio Seal the Win
Fahey and Tardio nearly let the game slip away after having a 10-5 lead, but they held on to win a close 14-12 battle, giving St. Louis the third and final point of the match.
“Towards the end, I wasn’t feeling my best,”. “I was missing some shots that I don’t usually miss, but with Gabe, we have so much trust in each other. He just told me to play my game and was super positive, and I think that’s what really led us to the win.”(Kate Fahey)
